Sometimes the best way to teach your children is through a discussion.

Rather than telling them how things should be, try asking them for their opinion on something. Kids are smart and they have often thought things through for themselves. By asking a questions and listening to the answer; really listening without interruption, you will learn a lot about the values and understandings your children are forming about the world around them. You are also showing them the respect that you would like to receive in return and that you would like them to show to others.

  • It’s so true that kids have more wisdom than we give them credit for Allanah. I’m often surprised by the words that come out of our 10 year old…it won’t be long before she overtakes me in the wisdom stakes methinks!
